The Drone Certificate equips students with the skills to operate and apply unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in agricultural and industrial settings. Students will gain hands-on experience in drone operation, data collection, and aerial imaging, preparing them to enhance efficiency in precision agriculture and other industries. This certificate includes preparation for the FAA Part 107 certification, an industry-recognized credential required for commercial drone pilots.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, the student will be able to:
- Apply Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 regulations, including airspace classifications, flight restrictions, weather conditions, and legal considerations, to ensure safe and compliant drone operation.
- Demonstrate skills in piloting drones, including takeoff, navigation, landing and basic troubleshooting, through hands-on practice and simulated scenarios.
- Apply drone-technology skills to a variety of industry-specific applications.
- Interpret the basic components of remote sensing to capture data pertaining to unmanned aerial system applications.
