Builds on the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing program as introduced in the pre-requisite Introduction to Nursing course. It emphasizes the foundational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to deliver evidence-based, high-quality, and safe patient-centered care. Students learn to integrate teamwork, collaboration, and informatics into clinical decision-making while applying core nursing concepts, the nursing process, and essential nursing skills. In addition, this course introduces students to the fundamental principles of leadership, the role of research in guiding clinical practice, and the influence of community health on patient outcomes. These elements support the development of professional identity and broaden the student's understanding of nursing within diverse care environments. Students continue to build upon knowledge acquired in general education and applied general education coursework. Psychomotor skills demonstrations and structured clinical experiences further promote critical thinking and provide opportunities to deliver safe, competent nursing care in supervised settings. 'C' grade policy applies.
