Builds on the knowledge surrounding the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing program presented in the Introduction to Nursing pre-requisite course. Focuses on the foundational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to practice evidence-based, quality, and safe patient-centered care utilizing teamwork, collaboration, and informatics to formulate patient-centered nursing decisions. Integrates foundational nursing concepts, the nursing process, and nursing skills to promote critical thinking and safe patient care. The student builds upon knowledge acquired from general education and applied general education coursework. Psychomotor skills competency demonstration and clinical opportunities promote critical thinking while providing students the opportunity to give safe nursing care to patients in structured settings. 'C' grade policy applies.
